But, like me, you can\u2019t put a finger on it\u2026 what you are experiencing might just be as fleeting as a passing truck, child or whatever that\u2019s just barely catching your attention.\u00a0<br>But it\u2019s there. I see it everyday: buttons not working (as intended), glitches in the interface, unexpected behavior. Even frozen browser windows &#8211; time to reload!<br>You are looking at software maturity. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I like to think of it as a scale &#8211; say 1-100: 1 is the program I did in my first class of coding (Turbo Pascal anyone??), 100 \u2026perfect.&nbsp;<br>Each piece of software gets a score. Simple.&nbsp;<br>The best, most mature, one is Google Ads. No surprise, it built one of the most successful businesses today: Alphabet. Like, 90% of Google\u2019s revenue (before the reorganization), right? <br>Let\u2019s give them 90 &#8211; the cloud does take a bit of getting used to, lots of functionality. And of course continuous updates and (minor) improvements. <br>What you click is what you get: it just works. As intended. <br><br>On the other side, you have new software &#8211; like freeware (fine, because, you know, it\u2019s free). Or products from startups (they didn\u2019t have a whole lot of time &amp; money just yet to perfect them &#8211; build it, ship it, iterate) as well as say integrations &amp; new functionality from established brands. <br>You see the flaws mentioned above almost immediately. Stuff sometimes just breaks. That\u2019s fine. People built it \/ still build it! <br><br>What\u2019s not too great though is when functionality is sold to you and \u2026then it breaks. Or better put &#8211; turns out it never worked in the first place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Real story (slightly abbreviated): <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Happened more than once to me&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Rep: OOOOF COURSE we can do A!<\/li><li>Us: Ok, great, let\u2019s go.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Me: A isn\u2019t working. I tested it like an entire day, 10 different ways. Yes, I cleared my cache and restarted\u2026&nbsp;<\/li><li>Rep: Shoot! We found a little flaw, our team is on it NOW!<\/li><li>Me a week later: Still broken.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Client Success: We see what we can do.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Me months later: Hi! I\u2019m still here! Anything?&nbsp;<\/li><li>Client Success: nope\u2026&nbsp;<\/li><li>Me: What can we do about that?<\/li><li>Vendor: Right, well, you signed already. How about\u2026 nothing?<\/li><li>Me: Huh, ok then. *sends email to legal*<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Budget was 40k+, so we\u2019re not taking peanuts, freemium or anything like that. In any case, that helped me understand that it\u2019s indeed not me &amp; not the users\/our reps, it\u2019s more often than not the software.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Examples &#8211; scores for Sep22:&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Hubspot: 83<\/li><li>Asana: 79<\/li><li>WordPress: 77&nbsp;<\/li><li>Zapier: 76 (Some things might look basic, but they work)&nbsp;<\/li><li>Facebook Ads: 74 (they came a long way!)<\/li><li>Salesforce: 73 (super powerful but also quite convoluted &#8211; I\u2019m taking \u201cease of use\u201d into account here)&nbsp;<\/li><li>Canva: 70<\/li><li>Salesloft: 66<\/li><li>LinkedIn Campaign Manager: 63 (2017 (!) called, it wants video!)&nbsp;<\/li><li>Calendly: 60 (no CRM integration &#8211; also taking functionality into account to some extent!)<\/li><li>6sense: 57<\/li><li>Leadfeeder: 54<\/li><li>Reachdesk: 47 (climbing quickly &#8211; investing in your product is the \u20262nd best marketing!)&nbsp;<\/li><li>Zoominfo: 45<\/li><li>Zoom: 41 (surprisingly low)<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.insightsquared.com\/\">InsightSquared<\/a>: 30<\/li><li>Cyberpunk 2077: 15 (unplayable on some platforms it was released on.
